We are a group of enthusiastic bellringers who meet to enjoy this fascinating hobby in Skipton. Usually on Tuesday evenings (at 7:30) & for Sunday services (at 8:45). If you are a visiting ringer, at the present time please contact Richard our tower captain if you want to attend ringing practice so we can ensure all the relevant social distancing protocols are in place. E-mail towercaptain@skiptonbellringers.org.uk.
For all other enquiries please contact Alan, our secretary at secretary@skiptonbellringers.org.uk.
We also have a band of handbell ringers.
You can find us on Facebook.
Bellringers
Bell ringing is accessible to most people and provides both physical and mental exercise. The physical level of difficulty required is similar to driving a car, and mentally the same as a sudoku puzzle. Bellringers range from young to old; children can learn from around the age of ten and many ringers have continued well into their 90s.
If the difficulties of 2020 have encouraged you to try something new and make new friends, you may wish to consider learning to ring at Skipton. Learning to ring a bell can take as little as six weeks, although learning the huge range of methods is a lifetime’s work, so there is always something new to test you.
Fancy a go at bellringing?
- The perfect social activity for all ages (10+) and great exercise
- Easy way to make new friends
- The world’s heaviest & loudest musical instruments – exhilarating!
- For all faiths and none with no need to be musical or strong
