Saturday 11th September sees the next event celebrating the centenary of Skipton’s bells: our bellringing demonstration and taster day.
Come along to have a go at tower bell and handbell ringing and then go up the tower to see the bellringers in action. In church there will be displays about Skipton’s bellringers.
You can have a lesson on a full-sized training simulator of a tower bell; learn what makes English change ringing special, and have a go at handbells. After your lesson on the simulator, you will be ready to have a go on the real thing!
Lessons and demonstrations of tower bellringing will begin at 11.00, 1.30 and 2.30. These can be booked in advance at www.holytrinityskipton.org.uk/events
Bell-ringing is accessible to all ages from about the age of 11 to 90 (a bit younger for handbells) and to people from all walks of life. A recent study found it offered health benefits too keeping mind and body active into later life.
